It was always going to be a full on week with our visitors from Menzies Aviation with us showing them the I Have A Dream way – and it sure was!
A powhiri welcomed our visitors at Pehiaweri Marae on the Sunday which was a great opportunity to meet and greet everyone.
Our week involved the group spending a week with our navigators understanding how our charity works and interacting with our dreamers.
Tuesday saw our Menzies team in the studio with the IHAD crew recording our charity single I Have A Dream. There were some amazing voices amongst our singers!
Thursday we took day trips out and about to some awesome locations. We took a group from Totara Grove down to Auckland Airport for a behind the scenes tour with Menzies Aviation, the dreamers from Tiki primary got to go surfing and paddleboarding with Tutukaka Surf, another group tried up waka ama and finally we took a group out to the Poor Knights on The Perfect Day boat.
Friday was another exciting experience for these tamariki with a talk from the truly inspiring Mark Beaumont who cycled around the world in 78 days! He talked about inspiring the kids to never give up, overcome failure and keep pushing to reach your potential. He also encouraged them to decide to try something new, it’s the little decisions that we make today that can define our future – plus he had an awesome slide show from his travels around the world, the kids loved seeing all the animals and people he’d met along the way.
The whole week we were looking forward to Saturday – the launch of our charity single! It was an amazing night, and we could not have achieved this without the help from Menzies. If you haven’t checked out our charity single yet, make sure you do so by heading to our You Tube channel here https://youtu.be/yqZ-i42yy5g
It was the best week, and we want to thank the team from Menzies for their support and spending the week with us. #InspiringDreamsEnablingFutures
