Help kids navigate towards life success
At I Have a Dream, our volunteers are at the heart of the mahi. We simply couldn’t do what we do without this trusted team of generous, caring individuals. Coming from all walks of life, our volunteers bring diverse skills, experiences and perspectives and a shared commitment to helping tamariki (children) and rangatahi (young people) thrive. Whether supporting individual Dreamers with tutoring, leading group activities, or lending a hand at events, our programme volunteers play a vital role in creating a nurturing, inspiring environment where every young person can succeed.
As the number of Dreamers in our four partner schools continues to grow, so does the need for more helping hands. Whether you can commit weekly or only occasionally, we would love to collaborate with you on your own terms and schedule.
Why Volunteer?
Our Navigators provide long-term, tailored support to each Dreamer. Meeting not just academic needs, but also their social and emotional wellbeing. Volunteers play a vital role in this Navigator-supported journey by being consistent, caring people that our Dreamers can rely on.
As a volunteer, you will help create an environment where tamariki are encouraged to dream big, believe in themselves, and stay on track to reach important life milestones. Be it achieving success at school, accessing scholarships, or transitioning into meaningful employment.
Where We Need You Most
After-School Programmes (Monday–Thursday, 2 hours per afternoon during term time)
We’re looking for volunteers to support these fun, interest-based sessions. Activities focus on building numeracy, literacy, social-emotional wellbeing, and confidence. Volunteers assist with setup, activities, food preparation (kai prep), and most importantly, creating a welcoming and inclusive space.
