We like to refer to our volunteers as changers of lives, encouragers of dreams, and creators of futures.
Whether you have special skills that might be useful, or you really just believe that all Kiwi kids deserve better lives and successful futures, I Have a Dream has volunteer opportunities where you can make a difference.
We have a number of volunteer positions available, on a regular or ad-hoc basis, and we want to work with you for as much time as you have to offer. Work with our Dreamers and Navigators, help out behind the scenes with our programmes, or donate your skills and time to our projects. We’re looking for After-School Programme Assistants, Mentors, Tutors, Administrative/Event Assistants, Guest Speakers, and Drivers – or get in touch and tell us how you’re interested in volunteering with us.
Volunteers are our lifeblood, and we’ll treat you with kindness and respect, provide you with training and support, and ensure you know how much we value your contribution.
Contact UsI’m originally from Russia but have lived in New Zealand for 17 years. When I moved to Whangarei two years ago, I wanted to feel part of the community and try and contribute somehow. I work full time from home but my hours are flexible, so volunteering for the After School Programmes with I Have a Dream was a perfect fit.
Being part of the programme has always been really enjoyable. In the beginning, it took a while for the children to warm up to me, but every time I see them, they’re more and more engaged. They are really excited to be part of the programme, it’s really cool to see.
I’ve love being a volunteer so much that I recently decided to become a mentor too. I’m a self-employed accountant so not only do I hope to pass on some business owner wisdom, but also guide my mentee in any life skills they may need. It’s a great programme that I’m proud to be a part of.
You can help I Have A Dream create successful
futures for Kiwi kids.
