What’s your great idea that will help raise funds for I Have a Dream?
When it comes to raising funds and resourcing our programmes, we’re out-of-the-box thinkers. We want to partner with like-minded people and businesses who can help support us, either financially, by donating gifts-in-kind, or by giving us access to sponsors or resources which can enhance what we do.
Ideally, we are seeking long-term, ongoing support, such as the $170 per month that we need to Sponsor a Dreamer through the programme. We also often have short-term projects, such as sending a group of Dreamers on a field trip or camp, which might suit a special one-off fundraising activity. Others have pledged a percentage of their business profits to their cause, while some Trusts and individuals have committed to Sponsor a Navigator (an entire class of Dreamers) right through their journey with us. Whatever it is, we want to work with you.
Payroll giving is an easy way to donate to I Have a Dream on a regular basis through your employer’s payroll system – it’s simple for both you and your employer. Plus you’ll receive immediate tax credits that reduce your PAYE payable (33.3333 cents for each dollar you donate).
Contact UsWith the magnolias in full bloom, Catherine and David Davies-Colley of SewEzi opened their private two-acre Poroti garden over two weekends for an exclusive fundraising opportunity for our Year 7 Dreamers – enabling them to raise over $2,400 toward their trip to the Hillary Outdoors Education Centre at Tongariro.
Dreamers not only had the opportunity to man the gates, greeting visitors and collecting the $5 entry donation, they also sold homemade baking and hot drinks, and organised raffles of garden-themed prizes. It was a wonderful chance for the children to practise their customer service skills, and many visitors commented on how polite and helpful the Dreamers were at the event.
More than 450 visitors came to the gardens to support the Dreamers and to see over 150 deciduous magnolias in stunning full bloom. Wendy McFarlane said of the event, “It was a lovely place to visit! Thank you for allowing people to come and see the lovely trees and garden for a wonderful cause.”
Catherine and David’s generosity in donating the use of their gardens gave our Dreamers a unique learning experience. Working together to plan, organise, and carry out this special fundraising event was its own reward for the Dreamers, who were proud to represent I Have a Dream and very grateful for the financial support.
