Activating community spirit

Activ8 12 Hour Fitness Fundraiser

Community spirit is alive and well in Whangārei with local gym Activ8 Northland hosting an event to raise money for I Have a Dream, with  many other local businesses coming on board to sponsor and support the initiative.

Taking place on Friday 11th of October, the format for the event is centered around 12 unique fitness classes that are suitable for all fitness levels running from 6am to 6pm. Each class is sponsored and named by a different business and people can choose to participate in a single class, or multiple classes, with several brave souls taking on the challenge of completing all 12. Each class is 45 minutes long, giving the long haulers only 15 mins rest in between.

To keep everyone fuelled up, breakfast, lunch and coffee will be available to purchase, along with Thai massages, spot prizes and giveaways to create a fun and energetic atmosphere.

The day will start early with a traditional Bootcamp class, then across the day there will be a range of classes targeting specific groups such as office workers, Mums with little ones in tow, and teens looking to improve their strength.

Towards the end of the day  as the end of the working week gets closer, classes will blend with more leisure focussed pursuits. The 4pm Beer Yoga class is exactly what it sounds like, interspersing downward dogs and sun salutations with sips of beer.

The event will then move outdoors for an end of day Bootcamp out in the Harbourside park, followed by drinks at Loco Bar in the Town Basin.

Now in its third year, this event offers something for everyone in the community and aims to bring people together to get fit, have fun and raise money for a great cause.

Check out the program below and get involved by registering to attend here. Dressing up and working out  in character is encouraged!
