mentor a dreamer

share your time, knowledge, and lived experience

Every young person needs a village in their corner

Have you been considering how to make a positive contribution in your local community? Mentoring is an extremely rewarding and transformative way to make a difference, help build build bright futures for our Rangatahi (youth), and have a positive flow on effect for our whole community.

No matter what career you’ve had or industry you’ve worked in, if you believe in investing in the next generation, you will have valuable knowledge to share that can help a student find their own path beyond school.

I Have a Dream in partnership with Tikipunga High School are now looking for community based mentors for the recently launched Pathways Programme.

As a volunteer mentor, your role will be to:

  • Spend one hour per month with your mentee in person
  • Keep up a level of contact in between sessions to check in and plan for monthly meet ups
  • Connect with whānau to develop a deeper understanding of your mentee
  • Commit at least 12 months to the Pathways Programme and your assigned mentee.

Mentors will receive:

  • Onboarding and mentoring guidance materials
  • Contact, support and guidance from Pathways Programme team
