YOUR SUPPORT OF THE CLASSIC 100 HELPS ENABLE FUTURES FOR KIDS IN WHANGĀREI

Run, walk or skip 100kms across the 31 days of March to raise money for I Have a Dream, thanks to Classic Builders Northland.
With 31 Days in March and cooler autumn weather it’s the perfect time to rise to the challenge of clocking up 100kms any way you choose. Form a team with your workmates, whānau or friends as a way of getting fit and healthy together, or set yourself a solo goal.

Walk alongside the Dream Team as we walk alongside Whangārei’s youth
I Have a Dream enables bright futures for our youngest community members through education and opportunties. Programme participants (Dreamers) are supported and guided by Navigators across their schooling journey and beyond to help them shape their dreams and reach their full potential.
You’ll spot members of the I Have a Dream team, Navigators, Dreamers, Volunteers and Whānau taking part in the Classic 100. The importance of health and wellbeing is engrained into the values of I Have a Dream, and we want to lead by example for our Dreamers and the local community.
Do 100ks your way!
The Classic 100 can be completed anywhere – during your lunch break, after work, at the gym, on a hike, or wherever you choose. Take a waterside stroll around The Loop, which at 4.2kms is the perfect place to check off your daily kms, or explore one of Whangārei’s many native bush walks. See you out there!
Classic Builders and I Have a Dream interview
We caught up with Classic Builders Northland Regional Manager Scott Coutts and I Have a Dream Funding & Partnership Manager, Jodie Hannam, to find out more about Classic 100, earlier this year as it headed toward it’s 6th year.
Classic Builders chose I Have a Dream as this year’s fundraising recipient as they wanted the funds to go to a local working with kids in Whangārei. Through their work as building and development work, Classic Builders employ many young people, some of whom have been through the I Have a Dream programme. They have seen I Have a Dream in action and the impact it is having at a local level and wanted to support us, which we greatly appreciate.
More FM Classic 100 interview
Classic Builders Northland Regional Manager Scott Coutts joined our Funding & Partnership Manager, Jodie Hannam, on the More FM Northland 91.6 breakfast show to talk about the Classic 100 and encourage people to participate.
Scott shares the origin story of where the Classic 100 event came from, what it used to be called (90 More Miles) and why they decided to change the name – and the distance in this extremely popular annual local fundraiser.
Breakfast show hosts John, Flash and Toast have been long term supporters of both I Have a Dream and the Classic 100 and they have created a More FM team so look out for them when you’re out on the loop!
