OUR STORIES

Volunteer Appreciation Dinner

On Wednesday 20 June, we hosted over 30 of our awesome volunteers, mentors, and their families at the Pehiaweri Marae. It was a wild, wintery night, but the I Have a Dream team turned it on by cooking a two course meal comprising of three types of chilli, cornbread, and dessert. Yum!

The dinner was to recognise International Volunteer Week and celebrate the tireless support and enthusiasm of our volunteer and mentor #DreamTeam. As a charitable organisation, we rely on our volunteers involvement and simply wouldn’t be able to extend the work we do with our Dreamers without their support.

We are continually amazed and humbled at the dedication our volunteers show and their willingness to help make a difference.

“It’s so rewarding to see the change my efforts make to the kids. Seeing their progress, particularly in reading, is really satisfying.” says one volunteer.

We like to refer our volunteers as, a Changer of Lives, Encourager of Dreams, and Creator of Futures. Their presence in our programme has a powerful and positive effect on the lives of our Dreamers. They help provide our tamariki with the skills, tools, attitude and confidence to pursue their dreams, reach their full potential and live a fulfilling and successful life.
