Capturing the Heart of I Have a Dream

Storytelling is an important tool for sharing the impact of I Have a Dream with the world, and a picture is worth a thousand words. Whether it’s sharing the voices of Navigators, the smiles of Dreamers, or conversations about transformational achievements, the I Have a Dream team love nothing more than showcasing what’s possible when young people are given the tools, belief, and encouragement to thrive.

Over the past year, I Have a Dream has established a partnership with one of Whangārei’s most talented photographer’s, Sarah Marshall, to capture photography that enhances and elevates our brand, and builds a clear picture of the difference being made in the lives of young people.

Sarah has taken many of the iconic images you may have seen recently across our social media channels, billboards, and marketing materials. Sarah has beautifully documented moments of joy, activity, and connection, reflecting what it means to be a Dreamer, Navigator, or part of the Dream Team.

You may have spotted Sarah’s photos on I Have a Dream digital billboards around town. Her images were also featured widely in the 2024 Annual Report which you can view online here.

What makes working with Sarah so easy goes beyond her technical talent (which is abundant). She has a natural instinct for when to allow moments to unfold naturally, and capture them candidly, or when she gently needs to guide students and staff members when they need a little support in front of the camera. 

“It’s been a privilege to help tell the I Have a Dream story, capturing the connection between Navigators and Dreamers as they invest in the future of our rangatahi,” said Sarah. “From the summer programme to whānau events and breakfast clubs, it’s been a highlight of my year to witness and document such genuine support and community.”

As a proud Northlander, Sarah helps businesses, charities, and individuals across the region tell their stories in ways that build connection and credibility. As well as offering stunning brand photography, Sarah is well known locally for her professional headshots, business and family portraits.
