Susan Muller

Meet Susan

I’m Susan Muller, the Year 6 Navigator at Tōtara Grove School.

I am a proud Mum of 2, and I love spending time with my partner and whanau in the beautiful Bream Bay area we now call home.

I have been both a Secondary School and Primary School kaiako and kaiāwhina. I have a varied work history including aviation, counselling and public facing roles- all contributing to a skill set that enables me to connect easily with ākonga and their whanau. I love working with ākonga of all ages, and on all levels of their educational journey. My focus in working with our tamariki is to support them with poutamatanga and personal growth and excellence- however this looks for them.

I love seeing ākonga developing their resilience and self belief- it is so rewarding sharing their joy as they release they have achieved their goals, both small and huge. I have a particular focus on diversity and inclusion, and enabling all ākonga, especially those who don’t ‘fit the mould’ to experience belonging, recognition and fulfillment. I believe that it really does ‘take a village to raise a child’, and I Have a Dream can be a significant part of our tamariki’s ‘village’. Each one of our Navigators brings so many awesome qualities to our tamariki’s growth and learning.

We get to provide the inspiration and the opportunities for our tamariki to dream. Then we provide our tamariki with the tools and the means to go for their dreams, and to achieve them- what could be more awesome than that?
