Community engagement exceeding expectations

The levels of community engagement achieved to date are confirming our decision in selecting Whangarei to launch our first roll out of the Ngatahi Education Initiative.

The proposed initiative has been met with a warm welcome into the Northland community of Whangarei as people see it meeting the needs of the Tikipunga and Otangarei communities where we’ll be based, improving the educational outcomes for the children living there.

So far we have received nothing but praise at all levels of the community. From the Mayor and Whangarei District Council, the Ministry of Education, the northland MP’s, through to the business sector with the Chamber of Commerce and Northland Inc, right down to grass roots level with some Iwi, the marae and the many community based organisations working on the ground who we hope to partner with. And of course we mustn’t forget the Otangarei / Tikipunga schools who were the initial ones to respond so positively to our Request for Engagement that attracted us there in the first place. All have seen the social, educational and economic benefits that this intensive long-term investment will make into the community.

We can’t wait to get started, but first we must overcome the goal of raising the funding required in order to be able to engage with the children and whanau.

If you can help us with raising the funds we need or put us in touch with people who could help, please get in contact with us here or make a donation on our I Have a Dream Charitable Trust Givealittle page.
